This weekend will bring some new changes in the path linking Emeryville to Buena Island with new and standard on-and-off ramps at Treasure Island.
This Saturday a replacement of tight turns and hair-raising merges will be seen at Treasure Island in the form of westbound Interstate 80 on-and-off ramps. These ramps are safer and more efficient than the existing ways.
San Francisco County Transportation Authority managed $ 98 million project in association with federal, state and local money.
The final segment of the 4.5-mile-long bicycle and pedestrian path on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge will connect the East Bay to Yerba Buena Island.
The new section includes one bike lane in each direction and an outside lane for pedestrians, which will open on weekends and holidays. The present and existing bicycle and pedestrian path will be open routinely from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The path is complete and rest of the work in is progress. There is no parking on the Yerba Buena Island but the construction is going on in the area from years.
These improvements in transportation are predicted to support plans in Treasure Islands. Developers began infrastructure work on Yerba Buena from the early time of this year.
