The SamTrans transit buses serving San Mateo County will receive $3.4 million funding grant to improve services for passengers. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) announced therein funding for SamTrans transit agency, and it will be implemented for the TSP (Traffic Signal Priority) project. The SamTrans administrators mentioned the funding for TSP improvement project will provide a system allowing buses on El Camino Real to work more efficiently. The TSP system will deploy buses at intersections on El Camino Real from Daly City to Palo Alto Caltrain station - transit buses will be equipped with transponders. The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit agency has implemented a similar improvement project version which was successful for passengers. The TSP improvement system is anticipated to have a final design by June 2018, and have the system operating sometimes between 2020 and 2021.
