From the bike route ‘The Wiggle’ to walking improvements on Cesar Chavez Street, San Francisco Country Transportation Authority are funding across $6.9 Million project. The SFCTA board (include members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors) voted to approve the amount approx $6.9 million for the five major transportation projects throughout the city.
The most well-known route approved under this project is ‘The Wiggle’, so that the cyclists of San Francisco can ride easily from east to west on a flat path. Also, near about $800,000 is approved by SFCTA just for the safety concern along the route, including bulbed sidewalks to shield pedestrians, a bike traffic signal, raised crosswalks, and a “traffic diverter” for the intersection of Scott and Fell Streets.
Funding was not only approved to the SFMTA, but approx $80,000 fund is disturbed for the Public Works to design the pathways in such a way that pedestrians and bicyclists can navigate the path safely and easily. This route includes the western entrance to the Bayshore Boulevard/Cesar Chavez Street/Potrero Avenue intersection known as ‘The Hairball’.
Also, more than $3.4 million was disbursed for the construction of the Filbert and Leavenworth Streets Pavement Renovation project. And about $2.5 million was allocated to repave Brannan Street from The Embarcadero to 10th Street.
