The new San Francisco muni railway trains are being tested over the weekends by muni light railway vehicles supervisor. The future of muni fleet of new trains control area is comprised of electronic sensors on the train's underside, and connected with electronic cables inside the control cabin. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) new trains are blasting through Sunset Tunnel near Duboce and Church streets during testing activities. Some of testing activities included stability and static testing, and evaluation including Siemens engineering work who built new train cars. The testing ability for new railway trains can be hazardous when distracted, and/or impaired drivers apparently abandoned their personal cars on railway tracks. A managing engineer from Siemens, Ryan Parkinson, said "the testing hardship part is yet to come between the Automatic Train Control System and railway trains."
