California is Completely Ready to Bring Self-driving Cars on the Roads

Later, Google was hiding its self-driving car details, but now Waymo (the self-driving car team) is coming openly with great efforts to share its self-driving car program’s details with media. The team is looking for an empty runway for the testing of their self-driving car. There is a site “Castle Air Force Base near Atwater” which is known as a startup place can be a good test track for the self-driving cars according to Hendrickson, economic development director for Merced County.

Air Base is a start-up place for the manufacturing of rocket components and others. This is the place where tech companies can perform their test-drives easily and safely far away from city’s crowd. Although around 39 automaker companies have got approval to test their cars on the public streets, the companies want separate places to perform several experiments without affecting other people of the city.

On this, Randell Iwasaki, executive director of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, which runs GoMentum Station said, “Anything we can do to accelerate this technology, we’ll do. There’s definitely a need for secure test beds. You can’t close down a city street and run the same maneuver over and over again without people complaining.”

Hendrickson accepted that Castle can be a major part to bring California to the top of the autonomous vehicle industry.
