SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) launched the second year of vision zero motorcycle education campaign. Now, SF commuters, visitors, and residents will see a great movement towards safe and secure streets. This campaign is funded by the California OTS (Office of Traffic Safety) by a $175,000 grant through the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).
SFMTA director of transportation, Ed Reiskin, “With Vision Zero, our message is that traffic deaths aren’t preventable, they are unacceptable. Campaigns like this help us all to understand what it takes to be safe on our streets and ultimately eliminate these tragic fatalities.”
The campaign was launched in support of Vision Zero, San Francisco’s policy to bring traffic-related deaths rate to zero by 2024. Every year, approx 30 people lose their lives and more than 200 got injured while traveling on SF streets. The main motive of SF is to end the loss of lives through road accidents.
