The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency is temporarily closing some escalators for surveying and/or repairs effective Monday, May 11, 2020 to Monday, June 8, 2020. There will be only one escalator closed during each time and repair crews will have signs and/or barricade barriers for protection. The BART improvement project is part of replacing old and/or upgrading escalators within the systems in San Francisco. The repair crew survey measurements will provide necessary elements for new and improved escalators for the transit system. The project $96.5 million contract is funded by Measure RR approval by local voters for therein BART improvement project. The contract was approved by BART Board of Directors for the procedural process for new escalator systems - visit www.bart.gov for more information and updates.
