SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA - BART STATE FUNDING ADVOCACY

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency in San Francisco Bay Area is advocating for state funding to support improvement safety programs for commuting passengers. The BART Interim Police Chief, Kevin Franklin, and Assistant General Manager of External Affairs, Rodd Lee shared their advocacy remarks at therein State Senate Select Committee public hearing. Including other Bay Area transit agencies advocating for supportive state funding during the pandemic recovery phase. Because Bay Area transit agencies are expecting funding deficits, and commuting passengers are not more than expected and decreasing operational funding. That means, BART and Bay Area transit agencies have to advocate for supportive funding from the state and/or federal funds.
