As we move into 2015, the iconic San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge will be closed on January 10-12, 2015 for traffic improvement project. A moveable median barrier will be installed on the bridge to replace pylons providing a safe and efficient lane system for ongoing traffic. The bridge district hopes for this safer system to avoid more traffic accidents on the landmark bridge, and accommodating many variable traffic demands during commuting hours. Golden Gate Transit buses will be allowed to cross the bridge and Golden Gate Ferry services will be expanded that weekend for people. The bridge will reopen for regular vehicles on Monday, January 12, 2015 with a new completed barrier project - visit http://goldengatebridge.org/projects/MoveableMedianBarrier.php for more information.
