Local merchants in San Francisco are going through challenges because of the lack of car drivers parking, and shopping locally in neighborhood shops. The recent completed data survey by SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) shows 76% local shoppers in San Francisco usually takes muni transit. Some local merchants are feeling the pain of loosing customers because of no local parking access, since the new muni bus lanes only project was implemented. Local merchant Michael Gardner said, "The survey can't be right and doesn't make sense because it doesn't capture evening shoppers." Other local business merchants are sharing with SFMTA alternative means of support to survive in San Francisco and the bay area.
