The AC Transit (Alameda Contra Costa Transit District) is planning to increase passenger fares next month effective July 1, 2017. The AC Transit board approved therein increase to keep-up with administrative expenditures and remain fiscally sustainable. The new state fiscal year begins in July 1, 2017 and AC Transit joins fare increases for passengers along with other transit agencies in San Francisco Bay Area. Other Bay Area transit agencies are considering to increase parking fees as well for passengers and encouraging input from the public. Some local transit agencies are considering changes routes and offering discounted rates when necessary for passengers.
