The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officers are investigating a suspicious package near Union Square, and impacting transit services in San Francisco this afternoon on Wednesday. The SFPD officers issued a tweet message for BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and muni regarding police activities on Market and Fourth streets. The SFPD officers crew investigated the scenery area at Powell Street BART station, and shutting down San Francisco Market Street between 4th and 5th streets. One of SFPD officer was dressed in protective gear for safety during the investigative process and encouraged people to stay away. The BART administration issued an electronic warning notice online for commuting passengers to become aware of transit impact. The Powell Street BART station was reopened and muni transit services are back to normal thereafter 3:15 PM Pacific Time when cleared by SFPD officers.
