In San Francisco, Mayor Edwin M. Lee joins hand with Anthony Foxx, the secretary of transportation of U.S. department to announce $11 million fund for pioneering projects on January 6. The project was made to reduce the traffic problems on the roads of San Francisco.
Mayor Lee said the project will raise the standard of the system and made a statement which states “San Francisco is pioneering advanced transportation technologies that will address traffic congestion, protect our environment and allow for a smarter and more equitable transportation system for all San Franciscans”. “I thank Secretary Anthony Foxx and our federal partners for their leadership and for rewarding San Francisco’s innovative proposals with important federal support.”
The funded project aims at building a grant partnership and idea for USDOT’s smart city challenge. The goal of the organization is to make smarter and equitable transportation system.
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency operates and gives fund to six transportation initiatives.
The six initiatives will work as-
1- New united high-occupancy vehicle accumulate lanes for public carpools and transit
2- Dedicated control space for pick-up and drop-off carpools
3- Smart traffic signals to decrease overcrowding and advance security
4- Connected Vision Zero wellbeing Corridors to recover protection for pedestrians and bicyclists
5- An associated, electronic toll system for the jamming pricing agenda at Treasure Island
6- The operation and trying of electronic, independent shuttles serving intra-island trips on Treasure Island.
The improvised steps are taken to improve and better the transportation system of the San Francisco.
