The victory of the newly elected president has left people in dilemma; whether San Francisco is going to receive the traditional funding from Trump government or not?
This question became news headline in the city immediately after the pledge ceremony of Donald Trump. Trump has confessed that he will cut down all the outgoing funding to the cities of undocumented immigrants in U.S. And amid this an announcement has been made by Mayor Ed Lee that San Francisco will continue as a sanctuary city.
On Wednesday, the director of San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency informed his teammates through an email that there are ‘Unknown’ threats to Muni’s funding.
Reiskin outlined a potential message which says, “We do receive a considerable amount of federal funds as part of our capital budget”, to his staff before the election. This message also sidelines the danger of vacant budget in the stock.
The funding amount has been disbursed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for most of the projects of SF.
Though, Trump announced in his victory speech that, “We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals. We’re going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none. And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.”
Reiskin states “That longer-term framework provides some stability to our funding, though all funding is subject to annual appropriations from Congress”.
He concluded that it might be too early to speculate the perfect situation of the present scenario.
