The California lawmakers are considering a legislation to charge $25,000 penalties for companies with self-driving cars operating without permits in San Francisco Bay Area and statewide. Assemblyman Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) introduced legislation AB87 to increase penalties for such companies with the means of removing illegal vehicles on state roads. The legislation will give state DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) the authority to charge penalties for companies with self-driving cars, operating without permits on California roads when it becomes state law. If this state legislation was in place accordingly during Uber's unsafe scenario in San Francisco before moving to Arizona, it would be $2.8 million Uber has to pay for penalties while operating without permits.
"These companies have demonstrated negligence with attempts to prioritize profits over public safety, and it's refreshing to see a state representative stepping up to protect our residents," said Aaron Peskin, District-3 Supervisor, San Francisco Board of Supervisors. #EliteLimousine driver's background is lawfully checked and cleared to operate passenger transporting vehicles, and all fleet vehicles are always cleaned with eco-cleaning solutions without toxin, to keep car interiors environmentally safe and healthy for passengers.
