The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) Board of Directors and local leaders broke grounds yesterday for new ferry terminals in San Francisco. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) awarded WETA with $22 million to expand new San Francisco ferry terminals project. The new ferry terminal is planning to open in 2019 if everything goes well without challenges and costing $79 million for the project. The booming ridership as reported by local ferry statistics in which may help relieve packed land transportation services within the Bay Area. The ferry terminal expansion project will include improvement of facilities, and new boarding gates as well as new ferry service locations in Richmond and Treasure Island. Including improvement landslide conditions with new amenities and construction of a new plaza area within southern part of San Francisco Ferry Building.
