The SFO (San Francisco International Airport) has new landing rules because of a landing close-call with Air Canada during last month. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is changing landing rules at SFO to no longer have air traffic controllers allow pilots to make visual landing during night hours. This means when an airport runway is shut down at night, pilots have to use the instrument landing system or satellite-based systems for landing the airplane at SFO airport. The FAA is making therein changes to avoid anymore mistakenly lined up airplanes regarding taxiway flights with descending airplanes for landing along parallel runways. The SFO Control Tower should also have two controllers during busy hours for assistance as required. The close-call airplane incident is under investigation by NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and findings should produce what happened for future safety reference.
