Commuting traffic congestion in San Francisco Bay Area has become more unhealthy and unsafe for passengers and drivers especially working class people. Contra Costa County in California is installing new express lanes that will direct traffic along Benicia Bridge to San Ramon and saving commuting time. Installation and construction project will take place during weekdays from 8 PM to 5 AM on Highway I-680, and express lanes will eventually completed going both directions. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) is estimating drivers will save 5 to 10 minutes during traveling time in the morning and evening commuting hours. Tolls will be operating using the Fastrak system and carpoolers, motorcycles, and clean air environmental vehicles are free using express lanes.
