SAMTRANS TRANSIT FEES INCREASE IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The fee increase for passengers is a typical approach in two to three years for SamTrans Transit services in San Mateo County. Increasing fees for adults will be $2.25 starting January 2016, and Clipper Card customers will get a 10% discount and youth passengers can qualify for youth discount. The youth discount is part of an extension program for youth passengers taking transit services within San Mateo County. These changing policies are in place after approval by SamTrans Board of Directors, due to inflation and keeping the district financially solvent for appropriate transit services. These changes include Paratransit services for passengers raising fees from $3.75 to $4.25 starting next year and 2019 for transit services.
