Traffic early this morning was very bad on Highway 99 northbound because of a major accident killing 5 and injured several passengers. A charter bus was transporting 30 passengers from Mexico to the State of Washington, including several stops in Los Angeles, Livingston, and Sacramento, California. The bus was heading northbound on Highway 99 and crashed along the freeway by hitting a steel pole holding a freeway sign around 3:35 AM. The charter bus sliced through the steel pole of a freeway sign near Liberty Avenue in Livingston, California. The freeway was closed for investigation and 6 passengers were airlifted because of major injuries, and 15 other passengers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. The freeway should be cleared and reopen around this afternoon thereafter an investigation according to Caltrans.
