SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA - SAN JOSE AIRPLANE PILOT WAS KILLED DURING FLIGHT

Airline pilots have developed flying airplanes a professional way of transporting people with optimal training, and required amount of flying hours to be successful as well as neutral relationships with passengers. Sometimes retired pilots take on flying airplanes as a form of hobby and ongoing skill development, and having fun at the same time. Unfortunately, sometimes having fun in the air and flying airplanes can be dangerous, even if the pilot is very skillful with experience, because anything can happen and pilots have to be prepared for challenges at all times during a flight. Lee Behel, a San Jose pilot was flying an airplane to qualify for a competition at National Championship Air Race in Reno, Nevada yesterday, and he was killed at the scene after his plane crashed when he lost control.

"This is a bad day for us and our thoughts and prayers are with Lee's family and friends," said Mike Major, Air Race Chairperson.
