The Santa Cruz METRO (Metropolitan Transit District) services agency in South Bay is launching therein Youth Ride Free pilot program. The Santa Cruz METRO pilot program for youth riding free on transit buses will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. The transit agency free services for youth will have no increase on passenger fees, and open to K-12 students countywide. The pilot program will encourage youth passengers to ride free on transit buses, and all Santa Cruz METRO routing services and not on Highway 17. The Santa Cruz METRO pilot program for youth will help increase transit ridership in South Bay. Including ways and means of support to help youth passengers, and the transit driver may ask for student identification.
