SELF-DRIVING CARS IMPROVING IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The latest report indicates self-driving cars are navigating local streets and highways better as anticipated within San Francisco Bay Area. The California DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) is working closely with state legislators to define and apply appropriate laws regarding self-driving vehicles. The reporting data reflects safety related incidents by 11 companies testing self-driving cars on local roadway streets and highways. The Google Waymo self-driving car project has been testing more than other companies, and Waymo fleet cars have been driven more than 635,000 miles. It also reported 124 safety related disengagement incidents which means 2 incidents for every 10,000 miles on the road - notable improvement versus previous year.
