Many San Francisco Bay Area transportation systems are in the process of improving transit services for passengers especially working class people. Part of BART's (Bay Area Rapid Transit) progressive improvement is installing environmental solar panels for new BART stations in Antioch and Lafayette, California. The BART Board of Directors approved an agreement with Solar City, a local Bay Area company to install solar panels at new BART stations. BART will purchase generated electricity from solar panels when fully operating thereafter installation is completed. The solar panels installation planning is ongoing and panels for Antioch station should be completed by the Fall season of 2017, and Lafayette station solar panels sometime during the Spring season of 2017. The BART energy operating budget amount of $3.75 million will be utilized for solar panels improvement project.
