San Francisco Muni ban the Political Ads to feature on the Transportation Vehicles

San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency board has announced that the transit of SF will no more display the advertisement of political messages after a vote of agency members.

The unanimous voting in the board room results in reducing the promotional display of political messages on the public transportation of the city. It prohibits ads of the concerning political issues on the SF transits.

This policy also prohibits those advertisements which include profanity, violent images, and descriptions. It straight away denies displaying such ads which feature insulting, disparaging, degrading, demeaning, and offensive messages. The revised policy also reduces the potentially harmful and disruptive messages on the body of any transportation cab.

The step has been followed by the controversy caused by the political ads in Muni. Some hatred messages were noted on the public transits which say ads about anti-Muslim posts.

Muni Finance Manager Gail Stein said, “These ads have generated complaints from our customers and our operators and have distracted from our ability to run the transit system.”

This political step has been inspired by similar policies in the past.

Stein said this advertising provides $20 million annually to Muni Corporation. Also, the included services combine cleaning of bus shelters which precisely feature political advertisements.
