VTA HONORING WOMEN OPERATORS IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit services in South Bay honors first female driving operators in Santa Clara County within the Bay Area. The VTA operational history provides Martha Garza to be the first female bus driver and Linda Gortner to be the first female railway train operator. The VTA transit agency is honoring these two wonderful trailblazers in transportation for their historical legendary efforts during March 2022 Womens History Month. The transit services agency still employs Martha Garza's son Ray Rodriguez who is a Transportation Supervisor, and will be with VTA for 37 years of service. The VTA transit historical data shows these two females stood their grounds during performance duties, and loved their jobs and making connections with the public passengers.
