The City of San Francisco is seeking federal funding for local networking transportation system that is environmentally safe for pedestrians and bicyclists. San Francisco, California is competing against Austin, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; and Kansas City, Missouri throughout the nation. The appropriated federal funding from U.S. Department of Transportation will provide self-driving cars, including services within an autonomous networking transportation system.

Tesla Motors in San Francisco Bay Area is going through some challenges regarding their Model-S car for customers. The U.S. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) agency is requesting information from Tesla Motors and owners regarding the car suspension. It appears the Model-S suspension part is showing failure in operation and may cause safety issues for drivers and passengers. The NHTSA agency is showing some concerns about safety matters for drivers and passengers during the car operation.

Airline passengers traveling in the air may have their life along with families and friends in their own hands. Because FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has ruled of not having airline pilots take a psychological test. However, FAA is taking steps for improvement for airlines and passengers while traveling by various airlines. Although, psychological testing is not required, airline pilots have to go through an evaluation process during their flying testing skills.

The Uber and Lyft drivers have been going through many challenging issues in San Francisco Bay Area. The drivers are now getting some relief regarding our recent posting about Uber and Lyft drivers have to pay more for license fee penalties, interest, etc. The San Francisco Treasurer and Tax Collecting Office is extending filing time for Uber and Lyft drivers to file for a business license. The SEIU 1021 union contacted San Francisco Treasurer and Tax Collecting administrators to have Uber and Lyft company pay for driver's business license fees.

The traffic congestion in San Francisco Bay Area is getting worse and Uber along with Lyft drivers are caught within the same issue. More than half percent of San Francisco residents don't rely on Uber and/or Lyft for transportation, and 7% of local residents only use Uber and Lyft several times within a month. The study survey by San Francisco Controller's Office indicates local residents using Uber or Lyft for transportation is within the Marina District. It also shows 30% of Uber and/or Lyft drivers are female, and passengers are younger generations using public transportation.

The growing population and economy in San Francisco Bay Area is raising concerns with transportation needs. Public bus transportation is part of the puzzle and latest report indicates declining ridership with AC Transit. It reports 15% decline during 1991 to 2014 based on MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) reporting data. MTC and other regional transit agencies are encouraging people to ride public transit buses with many other amenities. Including saving our natural environment and helping local traffic congestion in San Francisco Bay Area.

The latest transportation annual report released indicates worst roads for traveling within San Francisco Bay Area. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) released it's annual report covering 9 San Francisco Bay Area counties regarding road pavement conditions. The ranking categories are based on Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for road conditions within 9 counties. The 3 major cities within San Francisco Bay Area ranks "fair" roads category for San Francisco (67) and San Jose (62), and Oakland (57) ranks "at-risk" category.

The ongoing battle for Uber and Lyft drivers within San Francisco Bay Area continues including business license fees. Many Uber and Lyft drivers have been issued penalty fees, etc. for business elements involved within processing business license fees in San Francisco. Some drivers are unhappy with steep amounts of assessed fees involved, because some fees total equates between $700 - $780 per driver. Drivers registered with San Francisco Treasurer and Tax Collector's Office are assessed business penalties, interest, as well as administrative fees for being late with business payments.

Airplanes flying over local communities within San Francisco Bay Area is becoming more problematic for local residents. The City of Pacifica, California is another local municipal area having problems with airplane noises, and creating more problems within San Francisco Bay Area local communities. Pacifica used to become known as "the fog city with quiet peaceful atmosphere" within San Francisco Bay Area, but not anymore considering many airplanes flying over local communities.

The AC Transit transportation system has been serving San Francisco Bay Area communities for many legendary years. The AC Transit Board of Directors have been looking at ways to improve the transportation system for passengers, and would like to hear directly from passengers riding the bus for feedback. That's exactly why the Board of Directors are moving into local communities during the Summer 2016 to hear directly from commuting passengers. The Board of Directors will have public meetings within local communities to hear direct feedback information from people.
