The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Phase-II extension project to Silicon Valley will be under review during this month regarding bore-tunnel elements. The BART and VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) issued a joint announcement about the status of therein project, and VTA is the funding agency and designer for the project tunnel. The BART likes the twin-bore tunnel and VTA likes the single-bore tunnel, and a decision will be made to move the project forward accordingly. The project environmental impact report was released for public input and state along with federal findings is expected to be released sometime in December 2017. The $4.7 billion extension project will be funded with combined local, state, and federal funding, and BART will operate the system thereafter completion.
