SAN FRANCISCO WITH DECREASING FATALITIES IN THE BAY AREA

The traffic fatalities in San Francisco shows decrease by one-third last year in 2017 comparing to therein previous year in 2016. The Vision Zero adopted by San Francisco during 2014 has a goal of zero fatalities by 2024 by making city streets safer for drivers and pedestrians. Including ways and means of redesigning local city streets and enforcement to ensure pedestrians are safe when walking along city streets. The resourceful data shows 20 traffic fatalities in 2017 (14 pedestrians) and 30 traffic fatalities in 2016. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) finished more than 700 street improvement projects aligned with local safety initiatives. Including redesigned and constructed roadway projects, safety zones, speed bumps, and traffic signal upgrades for drivers and pedestrian safety.
