TESTING RICHMOND-SAN RAFAEL BRIDGE SIGNS IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and Caltrans will starting testing bridge signs on Monday, February 5, 2018 to prepare for opening an eastbound traffic lane. The new traffic lane is on Highway I-580 between San Rafael and Richmond, and planning to open during April 2018. The MTC subsidiary affiliate BATA (Bay Area Toll Authority) and Caltrans construction team, will test therein Richmond-San Rafael bridge project signs to ensure they work properly. They will work closely with Marin and Contra Costa county agencies for transportation elements to ensure bridge electronic signs will not become distractions - especially for drivers. Because new bridge signs will share information about opening and/or closing traffic lane times with electronic symbolic display.
