The Marin County is receiving federal grants to repair local roadways within western county roads including Point Reyes National Seashore in North Bay. The rehabilitative roadway projects for improvement is estimated to cost $38 million and therein federal funding will help with identified improvement projects. The federal grant from Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) will pay for 88.53% of the improvement projects plus local funding. The Marin County Department of Public Works (DPW) will work closely with FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) for construction planning and coordination of project funding. The county roadway improvement projects will include Muir Woods area and along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Francisco Bay Area. The roadway planning permits and construction should be completed during the summer of 2018, and construction should begin during 2019 with plans to finish by 2020.
