SAMTRANS PURCHASING 10 NEW BUSES IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The SamTrans transit agency serving San Mateo County is purchasing 10 new electric buses along with 25 hybrid buses to reduce fleet emissions. The SamTrans Board of Directors awarded $9.2 million contract to Proterra Inc. in Burlingame, California for therein transit project. The transit agency improvement project funding is by partnership agencies from local, state, and federal funds. The new buses will replace overused and outdated diesel buses and to provide ongoing reliable services for passengers. The new electric buses improvement project must comply with FTA (Federal Transit Administration) and MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) safety operational standards.
