Two transit agencies in San Francisco Bay Area reported two different associated drivers were tested positive with COVID-19 in Bay Area regional service areas. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) and VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) agencies reported drivers/operators with positive COVID-19 testing results. The SFMTA agency reported one of their muni drivers tested positive in West Bay, and VTA reported one of their railway trainee operator tested positive in South Bay. The transit agencies responded accordingly with appropriate prevention actions to protect passengers and personnel of both agencies. They continue to work closely with local Department of Public Health, state, and federal CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and Prevention Office. The SFMTA transit agency is implementing more protective measures for passengers and drivers, and VTA is suspending light railway services until further notice.
