The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency opened extension transit services to Antioch starting the last Saturday in May. The BART administration along with local officials celebrated last Friday during the opening ceremony, and marking the first usage of DMU (Diesel Multiple Units) trains. The BART trains can transport an estimated number of 2400 passengers during within each direction - $525 million extension project. The Antioch BART station will provide commuters traveling along Highway-4 alternatives and easing traffic along the way. The local communities in eastern Bay Area appreciates the extension project including environmental protection for families and children.
