The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency is using longer trains to uphold social distancing for Bay Area passengers and preventing COVID-19 virus disease. The BART agency ridership has dropped to 94% and adjusting services for passengers, and continues to clean trains with disinfectant solutions as necessary. Including protective equipment for train operators and BART personnel onboard commuting trains. The transit agency continues to work on improvement capital projects during this low ridership time to avoid commuting interference. The BART agency is scheduling construction activities at Union City Station on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 to upgrade escalators and stairway fixtures.
