The Caltrain transit agency is expanding the Bikes Board First Program including stations in Sunnyvale, Hillsdale, and 22nd Street station in San Francisco. The Caltrain program will allow bikers to board first in their particular train cars and staffing will assist when necessary. The program will help expedite the boarding process for passengers and helping save some commuting time. Because transit agency staffing observed 66% of train delays were from boarding passengers and more time with bicycles onboard. The pilot program was initiated at other Caltrain line stations and boarding finding times were decreased to expedite therein boarding process. The Caltrain transit received feedback from BAC (Bicycle Advisory Committee) and other bicycle advocacy groups regarding Bikes Board First Program.
