The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) Central Subway railway tracking steel is reportedly the wrong type. The SFMTA officials requested the subway contractor to replace therein tracking steel with the correct type of high strength steel. The SFMTA project officials are sharing information with the subway contractor to decide if changing the tracking steel is necessary. Because both Central Subway responsible agencies are starting to point fingers and blaming the other agency. The reports identify SFMTA was aware of the type of tracking steel for the subway railway at all times. The latest financial claims by the subway contractor equates to $29.8 million and replacing tracking steel may push the opening back.
