PETITION FOR SAFER ROADWAY WITHIN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

A coalition in Menlo Park is submitting a petition to San Mateo County for roadway changes to make Santa Cruz Avenue more safer and minimizing traffic congestion. The local residents are proposing changes between Sand Hill Road and Alameda De Las Pulgas along therein roadway where it splits. The coalition is requesting an activated pedestrian signal for the crosswalk at Santa Cruz Avenue and bicycle pathways for safety reasoning. The San Mateo County Transportation staffing is working closely with a consultant for a technical analysis plan for improvement. The identified area at Santa Cruz Avenue has been considered dangerous for local residents when walking and riding bicycles. Including local residential commuters are taking longer hours to get home thereafter school and/or after work during commuting hours.
