USPS SELF-DRIVING DELIVERY TRUCKS IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The USPS (U.S. Postal Service) announced having semiautonomous trucks for mail delivery within seven years to help with operational costing impact. The USPS is hoping to automate its delivery system by adding self-driving autonomous trucks to its fleet by 2025 nationwide. The USPS is partnering with University of Michigan to build autonomous delivery vehicles and launching a pilot approach on rural routes nationwide. The USPS postal autonomous vehicular trucks will provide postal workers more time for other responsible tasks during the delivery route. The USPS believes it would also help with long distance trucking delivery needs when necessary.
