WETA FERRY FUNDING AWARD WITHIN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) agency received funding to build an electric zero-emission ferry in San Francisco Bay Area. The CalSTA (California State Transportation Agency) awarded WETA with $9 million for therein zero-emission transporting vessels in the Bay Area. The funding award will help WETA with the ferry infrastructure and transporting vessels consistency with environmental operating standards. Including a design and construction of the battery charging station at the shoreline of Mission Bay communities - first electric ferry for WETA. The electric vessel project should be completed and ready for transporting services in the Bay Area during 2022. It will provide ferry services for Mission Bay neighborhoods from downtown San Francisco roundtrips. The WETA agency data showing more than 3 million passengers were transported by vessels across the bay during 2019.
