The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) Board of Directors and local leaders broke grounds yesterday for new ferry terminals in San Francisco. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) awarded WETA with $22 million to expand new San Francisco ferry terminals project. The new ferry terminal is planning to open in 2019 if everything goes well without challenges and costing $79 million for the project. The booming ridership as reported by local ferry statistics in which may help relieve packed land transportation services within the Bay Area.

The AC Transit Board of Directors and and OUSD (Oakland Unified School District) reached an agreement to save transportation services for students. The AC Transit and OUSD have created a bridge funding approach to temporarily protect transit services for students until the end of fiscal year 2017-2018. The Ac Transit bus line services will extend to transport students attending Skyline High, Montera Middle, and Community Day schools. This partnership effort was made possible because of other funding sources from local and government agencies assistance.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) extension to Silicon Valley in San Francisco Bay Area is testing the rail system for safety reasoning. The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) is committed to construct a BART station in Santa Clara County and testing an electrified third rail system for BART extension trains. The VTA administration is sharing critical safety advisory information for local communities, and people have to adhere to all safety signs posted for protection.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system in San Francisco Bay Area will build clean power renewable resources. The BART Board of Directors approved a new policy that will guide future systematic energy sources for trains to environmentally operate. The local transit agencies in the Bay Area purchase their power energy from providers and PG&E to operate and function within each operation. The BART administration is setting new environmental goals to have 90% low and zero carbon emission by 2025 and 100% zero carbon sources by 2035.

The passengers arriving at SFO (San Francisco International Airport) may have to give their cell phones to federal agents for inspection. The reporting information mentioned a passenger arriving at SFO was asked to give the cell phone to CBP (U.S. Customs & Border Patrol) agents to inspect therein phone content information. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is challenging therein type of practice, and handling a case situation about what happened to a passenger arriving at SFO.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) board approved the new Transit Redesign Plan for new fiscal year. The final plan was created thereafter public hearings within local communities for their input about the transit plan. The new plan will include increasing services in high ridership areas and frequency level on many routes. The VTA light rail services will be modified to include service lines from Mountain View to Milpitas and other regional areas. The new approved VTA transit plan will be implemented when Silicon Valley BART Extension is available to transport passengers.

The police officers issued 222 citations for distracted driving in the City of South San Francisco and many creating unsafe driving behaviors. The number of distracted driving citations were issued during last month of April and aligned with Distracted Driving Awareness month. It's a monthly effort to focus on unsafe traffic moving violations on highways and roadways to prevent car accidents. The driving adults are prohibited from driving while holding a cellphone in his/her hand and able to use hands-free devices for safe driving.

The Uber ride-sharing company adds more troubling situations in San Francisco Bay Area regarding software usage elements. The U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) is investigating Uber's software program, and how it's been used to benefit Uber's company for profits and jeopardizing the public safety. The Uber software program called "Greyball" is allegedly creating program elements to bypass law enforcement agencies and lawful regulations. The controversial software program was reported by New York Times and Uber admitted the usage of therein program.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is going beyond sparing the air days advocacy to save our natural environment. The BAAQMD advocacy team has approved a new initiative for healthy air quality and climate changes for improvement, and reducing greenhouse gasses and emissions in our natural environment for protection. The "Spare The Air - Cool The Climate" new initiative is envisioning to have energy-efficient buildings, transportation network of electric cars, more usage of bicycles and walking, along with less waste and more recycling.
